Mark, Although DX4WIN will not auto-connect to a telnet connection, you can modify the DX4WIN.TCP file to life nicer. Using "Notepad" (or any other text editor), open the file and put your favorite cluster site(s) at the top. Then, when the <Select Internet address> dialog box opens, the cursor will be positioned on your favorite site and you only have to press the <Enter> key to proceed.
The first three lines of my TCP file look like this -- I added underscores in line 3 to make my two favorites even more obvious in the TCP list.
