Hi Folks,

I have the initial version of a program to compare one's DX4WIN DXCC award
status with the status on the Logbook of the World (LoTW) web site.

I'm looking for a few volunteers to shake out any remaining bugs.

The program requires two input files:

- the LoTW DXCC credit status from the web, saved as a text file

- a DXCC listing from DX4WIN, saved as a .CSV file

The program runs in a DOS Command Prompt window. The version I will compile
tonight should work on any computer running DOS or Windows.

Here is an example of the output:

Compare DXCC credit listing to DX4WIN - Version 0.1
Jim Reisert, AD1C - May 25 2006 14:39:11

Award modes: [MIX] [PHO] [CW] [RTTY]
Award bands: [160] [80] 60 [40] [30] [20] [15] [10] [6]

MISMATCH - 30M: 3D2: Fiji Islands LoTW: [ ] DX4WIN: [*]
MISMATCH - 30M: CN: Morocco LoTW: [ ] DX4WIN: [S]
MISMATCH - 30M: V3: Belize LoTW: [ ] DX4WIN: [S]
MISMATCH - 30M: VK9L: Lord Howe Island LoTW: [ ] DX4WIN: [S]

Printed 4 mismatches.

As you can see above, there were some mismatches. The DX4WIN status was marked
as either [S]ubmitted or [*]checked, but the LoTW records did NOT show the
entities as checked. This was actually from my log, and I sent a note to the
ARRL DXCC desk to check their records. The program will also identify entities
for which the ARRL has given you credit, but the card was never submitted to
them.

The program should work no matter which selection of DXCC awards you are
tracking. 60 meters is NOT checked, because it's not in the LoTW DXCC listing.

If you want to give this a test drive, please reply to me directly. I'll send
you the program and some more detailed instructions tonight.

I got some volunteers, thanks.

I only just found that that Internet Explorer can't save the LoTW DXCC credit
listing in a form that I can use. Darn. I'll look into this before I release
the program. In the mean time, it only works for Firefox/Mozilla users.

Good news. If you save the ARRL listing in HTML (web) format, it has the
information that's needed. I'll have to re-write the parser in the program.

I've already sent the original version to some people, so I'll work on this in
the background.

First, thanks to the 1/2 dozen or so testers. I already found one bug.

There seems to be some confusion as to what this program does.

This program checks two conditions:

QSOs marked "Submitted" or "Checked" in DX4WIN are listed in LoTW as Approved
QSOs listed in LoTW as Approved are marked "Submitted" or "Checked" in DX4WIN

This is to make sure:

LoTW has registered all the credits you submitted.
LoTW has not credited you with something you did not submit.

You must use the Submitted/Checked flags in DX4WIN. This is done by
making a Submission (which sets the Submitted flags) then changing
the award flags to "Checked" once the application has been received
back from the ARRL. If you don't follow this procedure, this program
is useless.
