Tony hit the nail on the head!!!!! And I have a fix! Right-click on your "dx4win" icon (from the Start menu) and select Properties.
In the "Start in:" box, if it's blank, copy the path from the "Target:" box, leaving off dx4win.exe, i.e.: Start in: c:\program files\dx4w703 Now "Apply" and "OK". Then start DX4WIN. I did this and now help is working. 73 - Jim AD1C --- Tony Lord <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > Paul, > > Having read this thread I thought I would check out my help file and I came > across a very funny/strange result. > > If I open DX4WIN 7.013.16 via start/programmes/dx4win then the help file > will not load, it says, "Could not get contents, Error = 0, Msg = the > operation completed successfully". > > However if I open DX4WIN via MyComputer/C drive/Program Files/DX4W703 and > double click on the programme file, then when DX4WIN is launched, Help files > open and work! There IS a difference, in that the shortcut from the start menu does NOT have the "Start In" field populated. If you set that field to the DX4W703 folder (e.g. "C:\Program Files\dx4w703"), everything works. (Note: right-click on the shortcut and select "Properties".) 73, Craig, K0CF -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tony Lord Sent: Thursday, May 10, 2007 9:33 AM To: 'Paul van der Eijk'; [email protected] Subject: RE: [Dx4win] issues with help in version 7.03 Paul, Having read this thread I thought I would check out my help file and I came across a very funny/strange result. If I open DX4WIN 7.013.16 via start/programmes/dx4win then the help file will not load, it says, "Could not get contents, Error = 0, Msg = the operation completed successfully". However if I open DX4WIN via MyComputer/C drive/Program Files/DX4W703 and double click on the programme file, then when DX4WIN is launched, Help files open and work! (also if I create a shortcut from there and place on desktop it works) Op System is Win XP. Explain that one if you can Hi Hi 73's de Tony G8DQZ -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paul van der Eijk Sent: 10 May 2007 02:48 To: [email protected] Subject: [Dx4win] issues with help in version 7.03 Hi, We have seen a few reports that the on-line help for version 7.03 cannot be started. This happens when pressing F1 or starting the help from the menu. This affects a few users; and it works for most. So my question is what is different between the two groups. I have a suspicion that this could be related to virus checkers, exotic patches that only some of us have applied, other software that interferes etc. In other words, I have no clue (yet). At this time, I do not even know what questions to ask. OS version, etc. If the help fails for you, there is one experiment you could do. After renaming the files (!!!) , use the version 7.02 help in 7.03 and use the 7.03 help file in version 7.02. This way we can determine if it is something in the help file or how the help file is used. Send results to me and I will summarize. 73, Paul ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Paul van der Eijk (KK4HD) [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.dx4win.com _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win _______________________________________________ Dx4win mailing list [email protected] http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dx4win
