I've been using the simple serial interface as described in the
"DX4WIN/Docs/Usrguide.pdf" file for the past 12 years with never a problem. I
never tried the parallel version because many complained about the stutter that
one exhibited for lots of users, even back in the mid 90's, running under
Windows 95. Over time, I have used Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000 Pro,
and Windows XP Pro without any hardware changes required for DX4WIN or CW
keying. It works on the same serial port as the rig control if you so desire
too. My rig interface has an extra RCA jack I installed that is connected via a
"T" connector to the key port of both my transceivers and the output of the 30
year old MFJ grandmaster. This allows me to send with the paddle and the Keyer,
type on the DX4WIN keyboard, or use the DX4WIN keyer memories or the MFJ
Grandmaster memories. When I added the second transceiver a number of years
back, I added a small 4 pin opto-isolator to the second rig key input to be
safe. Your setup may just require a tap into your serial cable to get to the
DTR pin and Ground Pin and a general purpose NPN transistor, like a 2N2222 and
you'll be ready to contest tomorrow! 73, Rog-K9RB

Subject: [Dx4win] The better interface - CW

  Hi everyone
I want to buy an interface to use with DX4WIN on CW mode. What is the better
one?
Please, help me to chose one, but consider:

I Notebbok has only USB and my mainly use will be CW. Price is very important
because taxes in Brasil are very strong.

  Thanks. 73 Mac PT2CC
