Hi Jim.
Unfortunately, this isn't easily possible when using XP Home. I had thought
the same myself, but no joy there.

Right-click on My Computer, choose Properties, then click on the
Device Manager button.  Select the "+" sign next to the COM (serial)
ports.

If you right-click on a port, then you should be able to select both
device address and IRQ. The standard values for those two ports are:

    Com 2  address 02F8  IRQ 3
    Com 3  address 03E8  IRQ 4

You'll likely have to reboot after making this change.
