Since controls are usually initialized when a form is opened it would be entirely normal behaviour and to be expected. However I would prefer unused modes not appear at all... but Paul probably does it this way because it is possible to have obsolete modes... ie I used to operate Amtor but no longer do. If the list deleted the mode from the drop-down list the old modes wouldn't appear in old logbook entries.
