I upgraded to v8.x this weekend and the spotting of QSX works fine. I have been told the CAT protocol for the FT5000 is same as FT2000.

My understanding is that each Yaesu radio has its own variation of the CAT protocol, so pretty much each Yaesu radio needs a custom driver.
