Ed,
I'm not Jim, but I've paralleled my keyer output and serial port computer-generated CW for many years. Just make sure your keyer has an isolated output, i.e., a relay (reed or solid state) rather than keying directly via a transistor output.

A question for Jim Reisert:

Using DX4WIN, is it possible to operate CW from a keyboard with a serial port
connection between the computer and the transceiver and then parallel the
output of a keyer (Heathkit uMatic Keyer) with the cable from the serial port
in the plug that goes into the CW jack on a Kenwood TS--850?

What I am trying to accomplish is to be able to operate CW from a keyboard OR a
paddle/keyer without having to unplug one and plug in the other.

Thanks for your advice.
