NOW: I had an idea to make at least the spotting click work via the
CAT control from DX4WIN to HDSDR: Radio 1 preferences of DX4WIN were
set to Kenwood (protocol supported by HDSDR) on CAT COM 11 (created
by Router) and the HDSDR option was configured to control HDSDR on
the same CAT port.
You can not *under any circumstances* open the same port with two
programs. You *must* have two ports - either a software "splitter"
as provided by the CAT and 2nd CAT capability of microHAM Router
(and some other logging packages), or the logger must use OmniRig to
share control.
I have never used HDSDR and am not a regular user of DX4Win so you're
on your own with your custom software configuration. I know the
concept is workable as I have run DXLab Suite, N1MM Logger or WriteLog
with and NaP3 or PowerSDR IF Stage in that configuration on my own
system.

Hi Joe,
I have created
an additional port for CAT 2 and set Omni-rig to this port with 1200 ms polling
time (DX4WIN polls each 500ms). All works fine except when I select both Sync
from Omni-Rig and Sync to Omni-rig to be able to set TX to RX-ed frequency but
also to set RX frequency by clicking on the DX4WIN spots. In this case my IC706
starts to "walk" frequencies, like it had gone to the scanning mode....So,
must chose only one way sync...
But, I am still trying to make my setup
work together:
1. To listen with HDSDR and automatically
synchronize frequency of the related TX (FT1000MP/MK2 or IC706/MK1, depending on
which one is switched ON and selected by the Router tabs. This works OK with
HDSDR CAT to Radio via
Omni-Rig
2. To be able to use DX4WIN for real time
logging w. frequency/mode and to be able
to click on the DX4WIN spot and set HDSDR RX frequency to this spot (and TX
freq also via the HDSDT-OmniRig sync). This second feature did not work when I
tried to check both HDSDR sync
mode options (sync to and from Omni-Rig) as it created instability.

BUT: as soon I Start the Radio in
DX4WIN, I get the message that the “port is already open” and “radio is
disabled”. WHY?? What am I missing??
The corresponding Router configs for splitter functions are:
FT1000/MK2/DX4WIN: CAT1 = COM4,
CAT2:=COM2, PTT:=COM4
IC706/MK1/DX4WIN : CAT1= COM8,
CAT2= COM3, PTT:=COM4

If you are trying to configure a splitter function, you could try
connecting HDSDR/OmniRig to Router's 2nd CAT port. Otherwise, your
logger developer will probably need to provide an OmniRig option
where OmniRig serves both HDSRD and the logger.
Note, if you use Router's 2nd CAT port, it will be necessary to set any
polling from HDSDR/OmniRig to the very minimum (slowest possible) to
prevent overloading the control channel
between Router and the MK II.

I have updated my shack with an SDR which I want to use for reception only and
keep my existing MK2, FT1000MP+ IC706 (for 50 MHz) for transmit only.
I can control SDR with HDSDR program and synchronize FT1000MP/IC706
frequencies/modes via the Omni-Rig program interfaced with HDSDR. This
combination works perfectly, but now my DX4WIN becomes useless as it can't read
nor control the
radio, saying "ie_Open, device already open" and
"Could not open COM4 for keying, ie_Open, device already open" when I try to
Start the Radio.
So, I can't log the QSOs with related radio data (mode, freq's) nor use spot
clicks to set up the TX/RX frequencies, nor control my antenna rotator.
Is there any way to make the above combination work together???
