Since I started this thread (again), I feel obligated to try and clarify a couple of my comments. As noted by Duane, I did not intend to insinuate that I thought Paul should simply give us something for free and have willingly paid the more than reasonable upgrade fees thru the years. I also recognize the fact that a full-on rewrite of the program (which would probably be required given the new coding tools and OS's available) would surely cost more than an upgrade. I also must admit that my current level of operation has not motivated me beyond a casual glance at some of the more recent logging applications. What DOES bother me though, is the COMPLETE LACK of COMMUNICATION from the author. Even if Paul were to announce that 8.05 is the final version of DX4Win, I am not sure I would abandon the program. However, it seems a bit disrespectful of his user base that we have been told nothing, other than a comment many months ago that some personal issues had finally been cleared up after several years of struggle. I also recognize that a rewrite of DX4Win would be a HUGE commitment of time and resources which just may not be available. If that is, in fact, the case, a simple acknowledgement would go a long way in soothing my (and probably others) slightly ruffled feathers, not that my 'ruffled feathers' are of any significant consequence. I'm hoping this note comes off as constructive criticism rather than bashing. If it appears to any as bashing, I apologize in advance. On a final note, I have to assume that there are expenses involved with maintaining the DX4Win (and the AD1C) websites and this list. I must guiltily admit to having never contributed directly to any of the above. If someone could advise appropriate amounts and methods, I think a number of us might be moved to attempt to help defray some of those expenses.

Like a lot of loyal DX4WIN users, I have waited around for years looking for
that email from Paul announcing an upgrade. But now I have to agree with
Mike/W8DN. Paul owes it to the DX4WIN community to inform us if DX4WIN has
indeed gone into permanent non-support. That way we could avoid waiting
around for an upgrade that is never to come and could start planning on
moving on (regrettably).

...and NO WORD from the author as to whether updates are even being
considered. As noted before, we are extremely lucky to have ancillary
support from Jim/AD1C.
I guess I should be more mellow. After all, I have saved a TON of money
on update fees and the program does NEARLY everything I want it to. However,
with that being said, it would REALLY be nice to know if there is ANY future
for DX4Win beyond the OUTSTANDING support by Jim (and the user community of
course).
Along a similar line though, I imagine that any changes would probably
involve a complete rewrite in a new (i.e., different) programming language
and that would bring a whole new generation of issues, affectionately known
as bugs or undocumented features. However, it might at the same time provide
an opportunity to make DX4Win available to the Linux community as well.

Will these new satellites be added to DX4WIN soon?
Sean, it would require software changes. There have not been any
software changes to DX4WIN in at least 8 years, I can't exactly
remember when DX4WIN 8.05 was released. Take that for what it's
worth.
