Gents, What are we? Radio operators, technicians or just a bunch of let the computer do it all for you?
In my opinion the manual up/download is the only correct way to do it not automatically. Why is simple b4 I upload I check always for mistakes. Just check psk reporter many spots are on wrong Freq (band) because he lost cat or didn't change band, this also mean that if it would be automatically uploaded It will contain useless data for LoTW, qrz, eQSL etc etc. Tnx to Paul and DX4WIN I have now (in 42years) 4003 bandslots from 160m-13cm+Sat 13 band DXCC 16 band WAC 14 band WAS 160-23cm (probably the 1st non USA) 9 band WAZ Integration of wsjt-x or clone(s) would only slow down the speed of light we have now With a few 100K qso's .... .. I agree with Tim K4TK. DX4WIN is an old school DXer's logging program and it suits my needs very well. Manual LoTW import/export and WSJT-X import are only a few mouse clicks and take less than a minute. Having said that, it would be nice to know that Paul has a plan for the future when he wants to (or needs to) bow out. On a very different note - I would like to see a similar program for the Mac OS. (Note that I made my living using a piece of equipment designed over 500 years ago with one moving part, and I still drive a car with a manual transmission.) --- 73, Mike Cizek WØVTT -----Original Message----- From: dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net <dx4win-boun...@mailman.qth.net> On Behalf Of Tim moore Sent: Monday, 20 November, 2023 11:27 To: David Perry, N4QS <n...@vci.net> Cc: DX4WIN Reflector <dx4win@mailman.qth.net> Subject: Re: [Dx4win] What is the future of DX4WIN? David Perry (N4QS) certainly doesn't speak for all of us. I like the product just as it is and I think the support and updates are excellent as they exist today. I fully understand some may find issues with the product as it is, but they don't speak for or represent all of us . And of course, you're never going to please all the folks all the time in this diverse hobby. But since you wanted folks to speak up.....I am. I vote we continue as things are maintained today. Not that mine...or anyone else's opinions really carry any significant weight. The owners should of course do as they see fit to do. After all, it's their product to sell and maintain. Those who don't like the product can find another product more to their liking. Those of us pleased with the product....can continue using it. I could have/use any product on the market out there....and I chose this one ....with good reason. I like it just as it is..... As an Engineer with 45+ years in the IT industry and quite a few years working in software development, I appreciate the time and effort it takes to develop and maintain a product. And I have been involved with the effort of trying to keep a myriad of customers with diverse desires and requirements satisfied. It's a daunting task. I'll save for another day my discussion on Problem Reports (PRs) and Deficiency Reports (DRs) and Known Problems and Workarounds (KP&Ws) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs) and racking and stacking customer desires/complaints.
