Hi Steve, The name field in the log is generally there to store the station's first name. It can be auto populated from some of the third party address CDs if that info is available or you can type it in yourself. The QTH field generally is there for the station's city. Address info including full name is not stored in the log. It is stored in the fields that are displayed in the QSL Info window. There is plenty of room there for the full mailing name and address. Check out the topic Individual Sub Windows, QSL Info Window, Overview.
I would need more info on exactly what you are entering field by field to be able to understand what the RST issue might be. My hunch is that you might be entering the RST before entering the frequency. If so, switch the order of input so that frequency is entered before the RST. Then your changes will stay put. This was the topic of some debate recently and we are studying some ways to make this more intelligent with regard to entry and yet not sacrifice the functionality of having the RST autopopulated based on frequency and band plan mapping. As a newcomber to computers, Windows, and DXbase, I would simply say that all of us have been there, done that. It gets easier very quickly. Just take your time and don't let any of it get you too frustrated. When totally confused, as I sometimes get, just take a breath and ask a question on the reflector. We are very fortunate that we have a lot of very sophisticated, computer savvy, users who can usually answer any question that gets posed. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Sunday, December 30, 2001 4:00 PM Subject: Need Help Hello to all: I purchased DXbase about a month ago, and I need help with a few things. first, let me say that I printed out the Entire instruction Manuel and had studied it extensively. upon looking at the Manuel, it takes off on many points that are over my head. I have had no formal Computer training and many of the terms and creating path names, ect. are beyond what I am able to do. However I enjoy DXbase and I am always trying to Master the many functions, but the Manuel takes off on many points that I just don't understand. Here are 3 problems that I am having with the Log: 1. The transmit and receive signal report fields always populate as 5x9. I try changing the numbers, but when saved the go right back to 5x9. 2.In the Operator Name, QTH, and Address fields, it doesn't allow me enough room to type in a complete name or address. It most always quits typing before I get all the info populated. Even if I figure out how to print address labels in the order I received them in the log, it does me no good because all of my address info can't be put in the log. I'm sure that there is an adjustment to these fields, just to name a few, but very plainly, I don't know how. any help you can give me is very much appreciated. P.S. Make it in as simple a terms as possible. thanks 73's and Good DX, from General Class Ham Radio Operator: Steve and Family, K4SJA Website: www.qsl.net/k4sja [EMAIL PROTECTED]
