This is a followup to my posting about label printing as included below. Thanks much to W9OL, N7US, and Jack for all sending helpful replies.
I was already convinced that it was a printer or printer driver problem since the labels printed fine on my other 2 HP printers (different models, hence different drivers) connected to my network. I bought the HP 920 specifically to print labels and reports from DXbase without running upstairs to the other printers, so I really wanted it to work. I contacted HP Technical Support through their web e-mail support center. After reading through their canned responses, they suggested trying the HP 550c driver included with Windows 2000. I did so, and it printed fine with that driver, confirming that the problem was definitely the HP 920c driver. Of course when using the 550 driver, you lose some of the special features of the 920 printer. HP's "official" solution is to use the HP 550c driver when printing labels, not to fix the 920 driver. Sigh... I just wanted to report back to the list that the culprit has been positively identified and that there are a couple of workarounds available by using a different printer driver or by modifying a copy of the label definition file and using it when generating labels for that printer only. I also want to thank Jack, W9OL, and N7US for their responses and help. You sure don't get that quality and quick assistance from HP! 73 & DX......Dave - WN9NBT > Date: Mon, 28 Oct 2002 07:56:22 -0500 (EST) > From: Dave Chasey <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> > To: [email protected] > Subject: [DXBase] label printing problem. > > > I am running dxbase 2003 on Windows 2000.
