Hi Ron. In my bios setup I changed my LPT1 port from "ECP" to "Normal".
Dxbase now keys my rig fine.

Still playing with GOWIN. There was a different version of gowin32.dll in
GOWIN vs. DXBase. The version on GOWIN was more recent so copied it into the
DXBase directory. That didn't help. I am assuming I can run RAC and GOWIN at
the same time? In the "QSL INFO" Window, I am assuming I should be able to
see both the manager, if there is one, from GOWIN?

Tnx
Tony

Tony,

I have tested and used the 'built-in' CW function on Windows 98SE; it
works just fine using either the computer's motherboard built-in serial
or parallel port.

As Jack and others have explained, you need to make sure that the
parallel port parameters agree with what Dxbase writes in the Windows
registry. If the Dxbase register entries disagree with what the
motherboard is set to, then you need to change either the Dxbase
registry entry or the motherboard's settings so that they both match.
In other words, both the Dxbase registry entry and the motherboard
settings for the parallel port must agree.

The only time that the built-in Dxbase CW function did not run was under
Windows XP Pro using a 'PCI Serial Port' board. After moving the Dxbase
CW function to one of my 'motherboard's' serial ports, the CW function
worked just fine (under Windows XP Pro you have to manually copy to the
operating system the two files per the Dxbase Help file and reboot). I
am using it now (Jack, please don't remove this function in the
future....)

Another thing to look for is the sharing of the parallel port's IRQ with
another computer function. If you are sharing an IRQ with the parallel
port I highly recommend that you go into your motherboard's BIOS and
manually assign a unique IRQ to your motherboard's parallel port and
reboot.

GoList Manager runs beautifully on Dxbase 2003 (using Windows XP Pro).
Follow the Dxbase Help file on this topic and GoList will run. In
Dxbase's AUX Manager's tab setup for GoList you need to have both
'GoList For Windows' and 'Activate Auto Lookups' checked. My
gowin32.dll file is located in the Dxbase Directory, not in the GoList
Directory (I'm running WinXP Pro).

Keep on Plugging Away; you will get there.

Here is where I am at:
DXBase 2003 is set up in E:\Ham\DXBase 2003
I am running WIN98SE

CW
- I have added driverx.vxd and driverx.sys to "C:\Win\System" and
":\Win\System32\Drivers"as recommended.
- My LPT1 address is 378
- This worked under DXBase5
- If 2003 doesn't handle CW in WIN98SE, then I will get an external
keyer.
- Should I change the keying to a COM port?
- LPT1 is not being used for anything else. It is set up as an ECP port.

RAC CD
- In Tools>Options>User Options>Directories>CDROM Path Data, I had
"D:\Ham|Rac". I changed it to "\Ham\Rac" and now it works.

GOWIN
- I have GOWIN in "E:\Ham\Gowin"
- In Tools>Options>User Options>AUX Manager>Golist Data Path I have
E:\Ham\Gowin
- I have "Golist for Windows" Checked.
- I can't get it to function. Any ideas?
- In the "E:\Ham\Gowin" folder I have a file gowin32.dll.
- Gowin works from an icon on the desktop.
- Any ideas?

Internet connection
- In Tools>Options>User Options>Internet, the only entry in IP Host was
dxc.k1ttt.net. I added a few more.
- The IP hosts I added worked fine. Just thought DXTelnet is a good IP
host. No other special reason to use it. Will stick with one of the ones
I entered if it's too much trouble to set up DXTelnet.
- Is the list of the IP host sites on the CD. Where can I find it?

I like the layout and functionality of the program. It's a big step up
for me from DXBase 5. Please bear with me as I need some help to get a
few items straightened out. Thanks for the help

Tony
