Courtney, you might want to reconsider this hasty statement. DXBase is
a great product. We customers like it instead of the competition,
that's why we chose it. Part of the dues you have to pay for deciding
to offer an email reflector is the occasional criticism of your
product's deficiencies. Fortunately, DXBase has fewer in general than
the competition. But if you wish to continue to upgrade, enhance and
otherwise maintain your competitive edge, you have to listen to your
customers. I personally do not believe many of us are going to send you
private messages with our suggested enhancements of your product in
order to "protect" DXBase from the marketplace. Countries that
attempted to protect their domestic industries from competition through
trade barriers learned that it's a futile practice. Don't fear
competition. Let us, your loyal customers, assist you in maintaining
your leadership position.

Subject: Re: [DXBase] Feature requests for DXB-2004

Folks,

We appreciate input, but a couple requests. Please don't post them to
the
reflector. We already have competitors who wait till we offer an
upgrade,
then they go scan our web to see the new stuff and then they come out
with
their upgrades many months later and wouldn't you know it, their list of
new
features looks remarkably similar to what we already offered plus their
usual list of bug fixes. We don't need to present a roadmap here to the
world. Send us your requests in direct email and include plenty of
detail
on exactly what you mean. Thanks for your consideration. Also, please
note
that traditionally, our release cycle is such that whatever is planned
for
the next upgrade has already been established and chances are that we
are
already in a beta test cycle for the "next" release. Asking for things
in
the "next" release at this time of year is not likely to happen unless
you
just happen to mention something that has already been submitted
previously
by someone else. We take all requests throughout the year and store
them in
our files and at some point we review them, prioritize them, and
determine
how much can be accomplished in the amount of time available for
development. Usually that all happens around the early fall.

Regards,
Courtney
