This circuit and ideas will work with most modern rigs. It certainly does with my FT1000MP. It' works with DXBase, and it works for PSK and MMTTY from inside DXBase. If I can figure this out, a blind wino can figure it out.
With three transistors and 3 resistors, I have a single com port supply FSK, PTT, and CW to my Yaesu FT1000mp from my computer. Now obviously I can't send fsk and cw at the same time. There are many com port schematics http://www.aa5au.com/rttyinterface.html has a simple instructions and the same interface I use. This one is a no brainer and will work with almost any rig-computer combination that has a com port. You can use opto isolators instead but I've found as others have that they are more voltage critical and some rigs/computers don't always work. Now most people take the sound from the phone patch out or other source and via a Radio Shack audio transformer, feed it to the Line In on the computer soundcard. This combination will supply the audio in for PSK and rtty. For PSK you feed the audio out from your sound card via another Radio shack audio transformer to the Audio In on the rig. In the case of a FT1000MP, you use the data in on the packet connector. Using the above interface I also use Writelog during contests, to supply recorded SSB messages from the Line out, via a RS audio Transformer to the Patch connector on the MP. I can record on the fly, by connecting a microphone to the Mic connector on the Sound card. This is how I record the proper exchange buffers for Writelog. Another source for understanding these connections is: http://www.k9jy.com/ where many tips for recording voice messages and rig/computer interconnections. This isn't rocket science guys, even a dummy like me can do it. With the exception of the FSK and Packet connectors, most connections can be made with RS premade audio cables. RS even sells a dual audio transformer with RCA connectors and a long cable. (It in the car stereo section.) The whole cost of these components and cables shouldn't cost much more than $25 buck. I'm not knocking the people who sell the Rigblaster. And as the Rigblaster cost SO MUCH MORE IT'S GOTTA BE BETTER is just my tongue in cheek sense of humor.
