You're correct.  The FT-1000MP requires a "straight through" cable but the
FT-847 requires a "null" modem cable.  I have both connected to my computer
and it gets a bit confusing at times.  Unfortunately, Peter, I can't help
further than that because I have not tried the '847 with DXBase yet.

A Null-modem cable is the one with the crossover????

Been a while but I thought my FT1000MP required a 'straight-through' cable.
And sorry, I'm not going to slide under the desk and disconnect it to test.

Obviously there could be a difference in the type of cable required due to
the difference in rigs.
