You're correct. The FT-1000MP requires a "straight through" cable but the FT-847 requires a "null" modem cable. I have both connected to my computer and it gets a bit confusing at times. Unfortunately, Peter, I can't help further than that because I have not tried the '847 with DXBase yet.

A Null-modem cable is the one with the crossover???? Been a while but I thought my FT1000MP required a 'straight-through' cable. And sorry, I'm not going to slide under the desk and disconnect it to test. Obviously there could be a difference in the type of cable required due to the difference in rigs. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Peter Dougherty" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 16, 2003 5:19 PM Subject: [DXBase] DX Base and the Yaesu FT-847 > Hi folks, > > I'm attempting to get a Yaesu FT-847 working with DX Base, and and > afternoon of tinkering left things in the same un-functioning state. > > The radio and computer are connected by a null-modem cable as recommended > by Yaesu.
