I have a problem that I do not understand (well, I have many but this involves ham radio). I'm certain it is not a DXBase matter but it interferes with my use of DXBase. Thus I am inquiring here. And I have seen the impressive expertise on this reflector.
Bottom line is that my rig (Omni VI+) is always keyed up until I bring up my MTTY program. Then I can work RTTTY in fine shape and if I bring up DXBase at the same time I can do its internal.CW. But I must have both programs running. I have discovered one work-around: if I activate the Radio 1 serial port in DXBase and assign it to Com1 (with no checks on DTR or RTS high), my rig does not go into PTT and I can work CW without having to bring up MMTTY. But I must uncheck this Radio 1 control before I try to work RTTY or the PTT on MMTTY will not function. My setup: Running XP on a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop, using its sound card; serial port (my Com1) connects to a Rigblaster; no actual rig control. (Rigblaster provides the PTT at the mike connection); an added home-brew interface enables FSK. Running DXBase 2004. Clues: At the end of the DB9 cable to the Rigblaster when I have just DXBase running, I read about 8 v. positive on pins 3, 2, and 8. When I bring up MTTY these three pins go negative to about 6 v. And when this happens, I can do either DXBase internal CW or RTTY with no problems. I assume some other program must be creating the condition that keys my rig until MMTTY comes up to take control. But I do not see anything on the West Mountain Radio support site that coincides with my condition. This condition has not always existed with my set-up and I cannot recall just when it started. It could have been when I upgraded from Win98 to XP but I am not sure of that. I can't find anything in Windows support that seems to relate to this either. Can anyone help me get rid of this annoyance? --------------------------------------------------- Ed, W1MAG No. 1 DXCC Honor Roll (Mixed)
