It's been a recurring problem Stuart. It doesn't effect everyone. I get it frequently. I find that the less traffic on the cluster, the more likely that the connection will fail. One the connection with the cluster node fails, my system goes to almost 100% cpu use. It's as if my computer is trying to reconnect.
A keep alive message doesn't help, or if it does, very little. My other programs, such as Writelog never experience this cpu takeover. I'm running XP PRO. but I experienced it with win98se also. On different computers, different types of processors/motherboards but all with same cable broadband system. As I run [EMAIL PROTECTED] in the background as a service, the cpu takeover stalls out Seti which has a low priority setting. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Santelmann KC1F" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Bill Nowicki [WA4OYH]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "[email protected]" <[email protected]> Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2003 6:58 AM Subject: Re: [DXBase] internet cluster window > > I've NEVER noticed this problem when I lose a telnet connection - am I the > only one ? > > Very 73 Stu KC1F > > > > > 100% CPU usage when telnet fails revisited; > > > > After talking with users of other logging programs with an internet > cluster > > option and trying several logging programs myself along with programs that > > do nothing but telnet I have been unable to reproduce the problem that > > DXBase has when it's telnet session fails.
