I am running WIN98SE. Weather I am using DXBase by itself or have other window programs running, I can lose the telnet connection and have my CPU go to 100% usage. It used to happen very frequently, about every 1/2-3 hours. I am using a Linksys router. I upgraded the software on the router. Now I can stay connected on telnet from 1-3 days. I have Norton Utilities running in the lower corner and monitor the cpu usage. When it goes to 100%, I close the internet connection and reconnect. No big deal, but it would be nice if it stayed connected. My indicators on the DSL modem all show that I am connected when the cpu goes to 100% usage. So, not sure what is happening. N2TK, Tony

The only way you will notice it is, if you loose the telnet connection and your Internet Cluster window is still open. It you close the Internet Cluster after you loose the connection then the 100% CPU usage will go away. I wonder what operating system you are using? Do you ever try to run other programs while DXBase is running? If I loose my connection here and I am running something like a PSK program the waterfall will slow down and be jerky. If I happen to be running something like Microsoft Word then ever time I type a character it will take about a minute for it to appear on the screen, etc. I have tried other logging programs such as Logic6, Logger32 and they don't have this problem. So I don't think it is a Microsoft problem. 73 de Tony, KD4K My Weather Page http://home.adelphia.net/~tonycash/ My Ham Radio Page http://home.adelphia.net/~tonycash/kd4k/radio.html Sawnee Mountain (WB4GQX 147.15 +.600) Repeater Page http://home.adelphia.net/~tonycash/sawnee/index.html ----- Original Message ----- From: "Stuart Santelmann KC1F" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "Bill Nowicki [WA4OYH]" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; "Dxbase@Mailman.Qth.Net" <dxbase@mailman.qth.net> Sent: Saturday, August 16, 2003 7:58 AM Subject: Re: [DXBase] internet cluster window > > I've NEVER noticed this problem when I lose a telnet connection - am I the > only one ? > > Very 73 Stu KC1F > > > > > 100% CPU usage when telnet fails revisited; > > > > After talking with users of other logging programs with an internet > cluster > > option and trying several logging programs myself along with programs that > > do nothing but telnet I have been unable to reproduce the problem that > > DXBase has when it's telnet session fails.
