I received a couple of replies to my post concerning writing a tutorial on setting up for the Logbook of the World. I have it about 80% finished.
One question raised was whether or not the log file needed (ADIF) could be generated with DXbase 2003. The answer is yes. There are only slight differences between DXbase 2003 and DXbase 2004 when it comes to generating the ADIF file using the Wizard - the Wizard and Filter screens are slightly different. The BIG difference is that DXbase 2003 will not keep track of which records have been sent to LoTW as DXbase 2004 does. This is not important during the beta test period since you don't want to mark which QSO's have been sent anyway. But it's highly recommended you upgrade to 2004 when LoTW goes "live". I hope to completely finish the tutorial in the next couple of days but here's a preview at http://aa5au.com/lotw_beta.htm. These pages are completely printable too. Because of the DXbase 2003 question, I will add a link to the create_adif_dxb2004.htm page that will bring you to a DXbase 2003 page showing what the Wizard and Filter pages should look like when using 2003. Comments are appreciated. For LoTW and DXbase experts, please check my work! And if the above link won't work in your browser, add www. before aa5au.com. Thanks, Don AA5AU
