I have connected my Kenwood up to one of COM ports. It is Radio-2. I know that the COM port is either 3 or 8. I picked 8 and of course the program fussed until I told it to turn off it being active. Then I changed it to 3 and rechecked to activate it. Now when I tell the program to switch to Radio 2 and I click on a spot to send that freq to the Kenwood it does nothing. I connected pins 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8 per the manual, but they are straight wired. (Meaning pin 2 to pin 2, pin 3 to pin 3 and etc.) I know that pin 2 is Transmit date and pin 3 is Receive data. What I am wondering is should 2 and 3 cross over between the radio and computer? (Meaning to I connect the wire coming from pin 2 at one end to pin 3 at the other?)
BTW I did check and there are no shorts in the plugs. I checked this before I put them together. 73s Bob From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sat Feb 19 13:05:38 2005 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Jim, K8FT) Date: Sat Feb 19 13:16:21 2005 Subject: [Dxbase] Kenwood TS-870S In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Bob, You need to use a standard DB-9 crossover cable which crosses 2-3 & 7-8. Pin 5 is ground. 4800 baud, 1 start bit, 8 bit word, 1 or 2 (it works either way) stop bits Jim, K8FT -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Bob Main Sent: Saturday, February 19, 2005 12:17 PM To: DXBase Subject: [Dxbase] Kenwood TS-870S I have connected my Kenwood up to one of COM ports.
