I utilize the Digi PCI com port cards in my computers, they are very slick. I have the 8 port card in my computer.
I have more than two rotors and regularly utilize up to 6 different radios (4 756PROs on VHF and UHF as IF's and a 7800 on HF and wish the software could keep up.. HINT HINT from last year. My contest software will handle it. The digi cards are a little spendy but well worth it for no IRQ hassles. I have 10 com ports in my machine, and no USB or IRQ issues. After reading the documentation provided with DXbase 2004, it appears that HF radio interface and rotor interface are two independent capabilities that cannot be implemented simultaneously. I came to above conclusion based on the following information taken from DXbase 2004 documentation: HF Radio Interface "DXbase provides an interface to many late model HF radios. This interface is accomplished through a fully compliant RS232 serial port or using a file transfer mechanism such as the one used with the TenTec Pegasus." Rotor Interface "DXbase provides a one-way serial port interface of the common rotor control units that provide for RS-232 interface control." My transceiver is a Yaesu FT-1000MP Mark V Field, and it is equipped with a SINGLE RS232 port on the rear of the equipment labeled "CAT." Because there is only one serial port on the rear of the transceiver, I don't understand how both capabilities, HF Radio Interface and Rotor Interface, can be implement simultaneously. I am sure I am overlooking something, but can't see it. I don't believe my interpretation of the documentation is correct, so I would appreciate any assistance you can provide. Cheers, Talley ______________________________________________________________ Dxbase mailing list Home: http://mailman.qth.net/mailman/listinfo/dxbase Help: http://mailman.qth.net/mmfaq.htm Post: mailto:[email protected]
