How about a configurable automatic "End Time" (Insert the End Time when QSO first saved and editable therafter) option for us here in the UK.

It does all the reconnect stuff for you. See http://www.ve7cc.net/ DXBase connects to it via the localport:7300 and AR-User does the connect to your chosen dx cluster. Ron, N5IN From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Mon Dec 5 23:00:19 2005 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] (Eric - VE3GSI) Date: Mon Dec 5 23:02:26 2005 Subject: [Dxbase] your Xmas wish list In-Reply-To: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> *** Keepers *** Right off the top of my list I wish to mention something that I hope never changes, that is the ability to enter QSO directly to the log on one line. I hope Dxbase never goes to an entry style window. The direct log entry alone and the ability to configure the log fields makes DXbase one of the most flexible logging programs available. -> I think anyone who uses DXbase while on the air and is even a modest typist knows how valuable the DXbase entry method is, so please don't change it. *** A Thank you *** Last year Jack and his coders added the ability for us to COPY/PASTE a radio CALL from Notebook (or other programs) to Dxbase. I kindly thank you for that, it has been a valuable tool at this station. Once in awhile it would be nice to be able to do the same with RST-r as often I do keep temporary notes in Notebook while copying code. -> Could COPY/PASTE be added for RST-r? *** QSL Label and Card Wizard *** This past year I have discovered that printing QSL cards on a home printer using Dxbase is not only convenient, but a heck of a lot of fun too. There are a few requests I would like to make to the Scientific Solutions gang with this part of the software. -> Is it possible add a feature to show that the QSO has been flagged for printing? Yes I know of the Wizard, but I would like to see if I actually queued it for printing instead of running the Wizard. -> Can variables be added to show actual frequency and band instead of base frequency? -> Sample QSL cards should be made to reflect the USER call not the preset call. This way I can make a few blank cards for SWL or club meets. Please can the user call and personal information be added to the sample card? *** K1EL CW Keyer and microHAM requests *** This past year the microHAM keyer has gained popularity with many Hams, including myself. There were a few minor issues with the microKEYER that Jack dealt with in a timely and professional manner, thank you for that. There is no doubt that the USB products offered by microHAM will continue to grow, both because of the flexibility of the product and because legacy serial ports are not being offered in many newer computers. My request here only deals with the K1EL CW portion of the microKeyer. -> Please, can a PTT disable option be added for those of us that prefer semi break-in or full break-in operation? -> If possible, can the speed of the CW pot on the microKEYER be somehow reflected in Dxbase? *** MMTTY Add-in *** Without a doubt one of the most popular RTTY programs to ever be written is MMTTY by JE3HHT, Mako. Even the popular contesting program WriteLog (as well as others) have made a provision for MMTTY to be added, including the ability to COPY/PASTE calls right from the MMTTY engine to the logging software. - Please, can an MMTTY option be added to Dxbase? *** Live Updates *** If one thing most Amateur operators know, is the world is a changing place. There are a few good soles on the Dxbase reflector that tell us of these changes, no matter what they are - IOTA - CALL - Country, etc.. They even take the time to answer the same question as how to do the manual changes. I am a fellow that is comfortable with computers yet still feel intimidated to make these database changes. -> So I kindly ask, can a means of live updates from the DXbase website be added for these changes in the databases? *** LoTW Requests *** Scientific Solutions with its DXbase logging software has taken the lead to interface with the ARRL LoTW database. For sure LoTW is a must for those that have many of thousand of calls in there own personal log. It is a area in DXbase that is often used here, by the fast growing numbers of LoTW users I am not alone. -> Is it possible to have a single step or simplify the steps to either upload or download the LoTW data without going through the Dxbase log Wizard? -> Once a QSO is uploaded up to LoTW, perhaps it would a good idea not to allow deletion of file in Dxbase with a warning that the files on LoTW will not be update or deleted. Deleting a QSO in DXbase does cause the two data base to become out of sync. -> Also, perhaps the critical fields that pertain to the LoTW data, like Date, Time, Call, etc. should have those fields fixed in DXbase so they can no longer be changed once the QSO is uploaded? -> I have notice that VE Provinces seem to be supported in LoTW. Can this field be added now? *** Short Comings *** Well to honest about it this is a person request, as there almost no short comings in DXbase for me. DXbase 2006 fits just about everything I could ever expect in logging software, it is fun to find new features in the software on the nights or weekends the bands are flat. There are features I will never need for my station set-up, but I can easily see why someone else could make use of the many feature the Sci-Fi gang have thought to put in the logging software. But there is one tiny personal request that I would like to ask for. This request comes from the times that often start Dxbase 2006 to maintain my log without starting the rig or interface. -> Can auto reconnect for hardware be incorporated at the time DXbase starts? -> Also, can a visual display be added to see if rig is connected, frequency and mode would be nice? Jack and everyone on the list, thank you for taking the time read and consider our requests. It is most encouraging to know that you wish to help us 'Hams' keep up with the needs of our modern Hamshacks. 73, Eric - VE3GSI. -----Original Message----- From: FireBrick Sent: December 5, 2005 8:27 AM To: DXBase List Subject: [Dxbase] your Xmas wish list Now is the time for all good men (and to be politically correct) and women to come to the aid of the DXB2007 wishlist. I remember last year as the beta's were being finalized, a few good ideas were suggested but way to late for Jack to implement. So...like we do here in Chicago, vote for your ideas 'early and often'.
