Because a contest logger is a totally different animal. Contesters' needs are radically different from general DX logging. DX Base is find for small QSO parties or contests where you're not seriously participating (just there to make a few Q's) but once you get into the contest to any real degree, you need the flexibility of a contest log. It takes a minute or two, at the end of the contest, to 1) generate the Cabrillo file needed for the contest itself and 2) the ADIF file you'll need to import into DX Base and to sign for uploading to LoTW afterwards. Suggestion: download N1MM logger (it's free - visit www.n1mm.com) and play around with it for a few hours. What a magnificent program to work with! - Peter W2IRT
