I need a county expert for VA. This evening I imported a LoTW and received a county error pointing to Newport News City. Most of these types of errors even this Canuck can decipher especially since someone at one time was kind enough to provide me with a link to the County Hunters webpage. Now, it seems according to the County Hunters webpage there is no such place, yet if I do a quick and possibly inaccurate search of the internet, the web sort of says there is. DXbase says no such place, now I am confused and need a bit of direction, in a word, HELP! To all you geography buffs that know the answer, thanks in advance Eric - VE3GSI. I think the anomaly lies in the Virginia designation of several cities as "Independant Cities," which are not included in any specific county. Newport News is one of the cities. I'm not a county hunter, so I don't know how they deasl with this type of entity. It's a real place, but not in or of a county.
