"This anomaly of cluster spots stopping is a recent thing." Most of the observations that you mentioned seem to be the case here at my station. I use an old PII computer w/DXB2005 and Win 89SE. I agree that when the packet runs heavy, it seems to happen a little more often. I am not too sure what "recent" means... I have noticed this for well-over a year and it didn't seem to increase when they added the + for the LOTW stations. I use "AB5K" and he uses version 4.4.21
About 6 months ago I changed from using a satellite system (pretty slow) to cable modem (very fast). This seemed to aggravate the problem. Now this happens maybe twice a month, and I leave the system on all the time. Even this really doesn't seem to be a very big problem. I do have to shut the computer down and restart - this always fixes it. Incidentally, the last time this happened, it froze the Summary and the Log screen. First time that ever happened.
