DXbase 2006 Automatic 4O (Montenegro) updates - update from Joe WA6AXE (Joseph Glockner) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Message: 1 Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2007 20:20:45 -0500 From: Joseph Glockner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Dxbase] DXbase 2007 Automatic 4O (Montenegro) updates - update from Joe WA6AXE To: DXBase Reflector <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed To all DXbase 2007 users: After triple-checking my code that makes up the EXE file for the 4O (Montenegro) Automatic Updates to your DXbase 2007 Refdata and Logbook mdb files -- and -- after reviewing all of the circumstances that happened for DXbase2007 users who had a problem, here is where I am right now: (1) The coding is all ok in my exe program. (2) The users who had a problem - had corrupted databases before they even used my DXbase2007 EXE update program file. The users did not even know that they had a corrupted mdb file (logbook). So, I am once again going to let the DXbase 2007 version of my auto-update (4O) exe file be used - with the following conditions: ***** INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE of this EXE file ****** : (1) Back-up (Very Important!!) - both your 2007 Refdata.mdb file and your 2007 Logbook.mdb file. (2) To make sure that your logbook mdb file is NOT corrupted, pse do the following: (a) Initialize Stats - any ERROR? if no error - continue .. if an error - go thru the "corrupted database repair" in the Help Files to Repair the logbook mdb file. (b) Go to main menu/ Output/ HF Numeric Statistics / Countries... Deleted Countries (No or Yes - doesn't matter) / NOTE: If you get an ERROR message at any point in this HF Numeric Stats check -- you will have to go thru the "corrupted database repair" in the Help Files to Repair the logbook mdb file. (3) BE SURE that your DXbase2007 main program is NOT imi NOT running at all - when you run the auto-update exe file. Close DXbase down completely - pse! (4) Simply Un-zip the ZIP file and extract the EXE file into your DXbase2007 main directory. (5) Find the EXE filename/file (using Explorer or My Computer) and double-click on the filename.. the utility should come open/execute.. follow the dialog windows.. Once you are done with the auto-update exe file - Open up DXbase and go to step 6. (6) Re-initialize Stats. Once you use the EXE program and you KNOW that you are running DXbase2007 ALL OK - with the updates in-place, you can and should go ahead and simply DELETE the EXE file. ALL of the updates are embedded in the program itself - so once you use the exe program -- you won't need it again.. The LINK for the zip file is: http://www.navycthistory.com/wa6axe/4O_Updates_2.zip Again - this is only for DXbase 2007. If you do use the exe file to make the 4O updates to your 2007, pse let me know if you ran into any problems with the exe file itself. 73 Joe wa6axe ------------------------------ Message: 2 Date: Fri, 13 Jul 2007 22:11:35 -0500 From: Joseph Glockner <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: [Dxbase] DXbase 2006 Automatic 4O (Montenegro) updates - update from Joe WA6AXE To: DXBase Reflector <[email protected]> Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; format=flowed To all DXbase 2006 users: After triple-checking my code that makes up the EXE file for the 4O (Montenegro) Automatic Updates to your DXbase 2006 Refdata and Logbook mdb files -- and -- after reviewing all of the circumstances that happened for DXbase2006 users who had a problem, here is where I am right now: (1) The coding is all ok in my exe program.
