Ilya,

In our code here is what we do:

1. If CW user option set to WinKey, we read the comport from user option and
attempt to open your PC comport. If not successful, we abort with a comport
error.

2. If the comport on the PC is opened successfully from step 1, then we
issue a K1EL command called PortNotOpen(). We expect that the K1EL device
is open and ready, so if this command returns FALSE which means the K1EL
internal port is open, then all should be ok and we are done activating the
keyer interface. But, if this command returns a non FALSE response, then
the keyer is telling us that the K1EL keyer port is not open and therefore
we give you the error message that you mentioned. We also disable the keyer
interface by turning it off in user options in DXbase.

So, based on what you have said, all I can tell you is that the K1EL keyer
is telling DXbase that its port is not open when we send the command
PortNotOpen(). ( Note this is not the comport on your PC, it is the port on
the K1EL device).

I don't know why the K1EL device would not be open, but that's what seems to
be happening based on what you have said. I don't have any further
information about the internal workings of the K1EL device, so afraid I
can't tell you much more.

Regards,
Jack
