It's interesting that Pete mentioned SPYBOT. I had several different
computers
that crashed after messing with SpyBot and suspected that program. Nick's
statement ""Error 157" in a small pop-up window" was one thing I remember
and I have quit using any Spy Ware programs due to various problems after
running them.
This confirms my suspicions.

For what it is worth, I had a similar problem that would shut down DXBase
2006 when I tried to connect to an internet telnet connection. What I
found was two things. Discover was running on my PC which I never
installed and I removed it. That cured the problem. I later found
hundreds of URL's in my Hosts files that were placed there by SpyBot
Search and Destroy.
I had trouble removing those URL's and to date I had to rename the Hosts
folder that they were in as I could not delete the folder. I have not had
that trouble since. I could not make any sense of all this but you might.

Nick,
I've never heard of anything like this in the past. I do not know what
application is generating the error you mention but I don't think it
comes from anything in DXbase. Since it is intermittant, it leads me to
think it is something on your machine such as maybe memory corruption or
shortage, or video driver issue, maybe an XP file corruption associated
with serial port communications... the list is endless. I guess all you
can do is try to diagnose your machine and the applications you have
installed.

Subject: [Dxbase] dxb2006 (sp1) on Win XP SP2 - Error 157
When I connect to DX Cluster via telnet by selecting "New Internet
Cluster" from the Window toolbar menu, I get "Error 157" in a small
pop-up window. Dxbase then crashes.
This happens on average one in ten times.
Anyone saw this before?
