If you look in your alias map database you will find the answer
start with Tools from the main menu at top of page and go
tools
database access
dx countries
then go to alias map tab
then hit control and end key
now you are end of database so move courser all the way to the left and then scroll up to VR1

This is what you should see
VR1 primary prefix is VR or HongKong
Old1 PFX should show VP6 Pitcairn and the date 1998-06-01
Old2 PFX should show T30 and the date 1979-12-31

So using this database for VR1 if the date is 1979-12-31 or earlier in the date and time box on entry the country prefix should come up as T30 which is Gilberts and later Central Kiribati.

if the QSO is after 1979-21-31 and before 1998-06-01 in the date and time box, then it should return VP6 or Pitcairn in the country prefix window

if the QSO is 1998-06-01 or later then the prefix in the window under the primary tab for that country is used which is Hong Kong

that is a brief explanation of how the prefix table works.

Help . . .

How can the DX prefix database be corrected for all these old callsigns and old prefixes?

VR1AA comes up in DXbase2006 as Pitcarin VP6. How is this fixed?

. . . . and is VR1AA (Gilbert Is) East, West or Central Kiribati?

. . . . furthermore "T3" is not listed in the ARRL DX Prefix list. However T30, T31 and T32 are listed.

T3A to T3Z Kiribati
T3 Kiribati (including Gilbert, Ellice and Phoenix Islands) 31 65 T3A, T3K West Kiribati 31 65 T3L East Kiribati 31 65 T3P Central Kiribati 31 65 T30 West Kiribati 31 65 T31 Central Kiribati 31 65 T32 East Kiribati 31 65 T33 Banaba Island 31 65
