In the Non-DXB import utility there is a button for "Do Not load any records". There is no such button on the LOTW download page, but I always select Save when asked by LOTW and then select where to store the downloaded ADIF file. After downloading I open that file with Notepad and browse it to see how many records are in it, the dates, calls, etc. Then I use the import utility to get it into DXBase.
