I concur, Neal. This subset concept would make using all the crazy Canadian prefixes a piece of cake when sending logs to LoTW.

For the original poster who has multiple calls, this is ideal. Each call gets a separate log, but it's all handled by one master file. It's also ideal for QSL managers. They'd typically have a master log for their own callsign(s), plus a master log for every person who they manage. If one of their clients goes on lots of DXpeditions each DXpedition by that person gets a sub-log under their master. In doing it this way, it may be possible to aggregate info from different sub-logs while a master log is open. By this I mean suppose my master is W2IRT.MDB, but it also includes my logs from C6 and VE3. Wouldn't it be nice if, when I work someone, to say "thanks for working me from the Bahamas in '06"? My other big desire on this topic is to allow logs to be opened and closed without having to close and re-open the program. ----------------------------------- Regards, Peter, W2IRT -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Neal Campbell Sent: Friday, October 16, 2009 1:13 PM To: Fred Handscombe; DXBase List Subject: Re: [Dxbase] New features Hi Fred and the list (I expanded distribution for this discussion!) Fred was asking about the possibility of not having discrete log files for each call he uses and wonders if it could be a feature to allow all of his logs to live within one file. I can already guess that your opinion will be "WE WANT BOTH WAYS!" but do you have an opinion on this. Do you like keeping the logs as separate files or would you rather see them as subsets of a "master log"?
