Hi Eugene, The way you've described it, my suggestion would be to have one master log called Eugene.MDB (or something that identifies you personall); it would contain a sub-log for your US station and another for RA3AA. These two belong under the same master since they're both your own personal operations. If you ever go on a DXpedition or vacation using another call, these logs would each have their own separate sub-log under W3UA. You could also have sub-logs if you activated an IOTA or US County and wanted to keep those Q's separate yet easily accessible. Then I would set up a separate master log for your club and another for your friend.
I absolutely agree with the ability to properly use the OPRCALL field to actually log the operator who made the Q. Unfortunately that field was/is how the program was licensed, and one of the big changes I sure hope comes about in the 2010 release. Before I realized what had happened I experienced no end of hell with my club's log a few years ago. ----------------------------------- Regards, Peter, W2IRT -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Eugene Shablygin Sent: Friday, October 16, 2009 9:05 PM To: Neal Campbell Cc: DXBase List Subject: Re: [Dxbase] New features I personally use separate logs for each call sign used at my station (W3UA mine, RA3AA me in Russia, WU3A club, NU3C the friend of mine who uses my station when he is in the US, etc.). What would be a nice feature, is an ability to switch between the logs without closing down the program. But I can't see any value of having a combined log (with only one exception -- tracking USA-CA, which allows you use ALL the QSO you made, no matter at which station)... Important feature I miss -- an ability to easily switch operators, and keep track, who made each QSO. Todays paradigm of the "operators", implemented for separate printing of QSL cards, does not make any sense to me at all. 73, Gene W3UA Neal Campbell wrote: > Hi Fred and the list (I expanded distribution for this discussion!) > > Fred was asking about the possibility of not having discrete log files for > each call he uses and wonders if it could be a feature to allow all of his > logs to live within one file. > > I can already guess that your opinion will be "WE WANT BOTH WAYS!" but do > you have an opinion on this.
