I have Joes program and the MMTTY program and for me I use MMTTY more than Joes program but thats just me :)... There is an additional program that can be used with MMTTY to allow logging in DxBase and I have that also.. After I got this proIII and found out (it wasnt a big deal at the time ) that it runs rtty 100% duty cycle in fsk mode I jumped back in and I love it :).. Id sold all my other add on units like my Kam so having fsk built in was a real plus.. Im running Vista and my internal sound card and I have no issues with either program at all they both work... The nice part is tuning with the proIII its a piece of cake and works well.. Dave N8DC

I second Gary's recommendation. After 50 years of hamming I decided to try RTTY about 3 months ago. I tried all of the free programs and of them all, AXETTY worked the best for me. I'm using it with an Elecraft K3 and a Lenovo laptop running WinXP Pro. I've found that the built-in sound card and AFSK using VOX for T/R switching is simple and works well. The K3 has line level in and out and transformer coupling so I've had no interface issues. This is definitely *not* a contest-friendly combination, but then neither is DXB. I've had a couple of issues, however: 1) Once in a while, AXETTY loses contact with the sound card on transmit. It appears to be sending data to the rig, but nothing is transmitted, although the VOX does trip at the end of the message, so there is some transient getting through. This necessitates closing and reopening the program to reestablish the connection. The receive function never fails. 2) Sometimes when logging a QSO the complete call doesn't appear in the log, although it does appear in the "Previous QSO" window, so it appears to get passed from AXETTY to DXB with some hiccup. This doesn't address the direct FSK issue, but it's still worth a try. Wes N7WS Gary AL9A wrote: > Ron, > > I highly recommend Joe WA6AXE's RTTY program AXETTY.
