Subject: Re: [Dxbase] PSK and RTT questions

Im using MMVARI for psk.. It works well and it along with MMTTY and Joes
program are the only ones I can get to work my comports on my computer with
the extfsk port driver thats available with those programs.. But they both
work great. I run FSK with the proIII for RTTY and although psk is audio I
have it wired to the accessory port on the back of the proIII and the
biggest thing to remember with psk is dont push it over the alc limit. I
actually leave my power set at 100 watts and use the speaker volume control
to put out about 40 maybe 50 watts from the rig. That way the radio audio
isnt too crazy over driving anything and making your signal too wide. If i
remember right this proIII is rated for 100% duty cycle on digital just like
it is for RTTY but i never really found a good piece of info on power output
so I just do like everyone else and run about 40 or 50 watts. I know RTTY I
can run 100 and all day long with no problems.. I worked a guy in
Mississippi this morning wi
th about 5 watts :).. My mistake but he copied me 100% and gave me a 579
rst ... Oh ya the beam was 180 off from him also :) The other neat thing
about the ProIII is when running psk I have a lsbd for digital mode and it
bypasses the mic control and compression settings altogether when using the
acessory port on the back. The more I use this rig the more I just love it
:).. DxB PSK will not work on my system unless I manually key the
transmitter and I still do not know why ?.. Try MMVARI see if you might like
that better..

Subject: [Dxbase] PSK and RTT questions

After all these years finally got on RTTY this past year. For contesting I
use N1MM/MMTTY. It seems to work very well. For casual operation I have been

using AXETTY (Thanks Joe) with DXBase 2007. Probably the only pain is that I

can't click on a callout in the "Internet Cluster" or "DX Info" box and have

the call appear in "Their Call" in AXETTY. Maybe the next release of DXBase
20?? will have this feature?

Just setup DxbPSK. I have never been on PSK so not sure what to expect and
what to do. Maybe someone could give me some assistance with this? Any setup

screens you can share or send me to some site that would quicken my learning

curve? I can copy the signals I see.

My waterfall screen seems to be very weak(dark) even with cranking up the
audio card's volume compared to where I have it set for RTTY. Not sure about

the tuning in of a signal and setting up the transmit. I am using a K3 and
have that setup for 25W out for PSK.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

73 and Merry Christmas
