Chris, I have DXB running fine on a Vista machine. (Although I run an XP machine for actual radio control and logging and just use Vista for "housekeeping" like QSLing, awards, etc.)
Vista wants things to go where it wants them to go. Hence, your actual working .mbd will not be in the C:\ location but will be someplace else as in my case: C:\Users\Wes\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\DXBase 2007\n7ws.mdb I installed the program in C:\Program Files\DXBase 2007, so looking here there is an n7ws.mbd, as well as refdata.mbd. But these don't get written to when you make changes in the log. This can be very confusing until you get it sorted out mentally. What I have done is make a desktop shortcut to the virtual store folder. Since I do a lot of importing to the Vista machine, it's easy to open this folder, right click on the .mbd and send to a compressed file before doing an import. This is then my temporary backup if the import fails or corrupts the log. (It's never happened) Regrettably, the DXB import programs don't remember where these files are, so every time I do this, I have to navigate from where DXB thinks the files should be to where Vista puts them. PITA. Good luck, it can be done. Wes N7WS Chris VE3CTP / VE3ZO wrote: > I have started a task that I have been dreading.
