I'm assuming you can't do the Rotor-EZ calibration with a terminal program
either? If so I would suspect a serial/USB port adapter problem and would
try a different port/adapter.

If you can run the Rotor-EZ cal porcedure then I'd double check the DXbase
settings. My rotor settings are -

Activate Rotor 1 is checked
Rotor Com port - set to proper port
Rotor offset - Plus
Degrees offset from North - 0
Bump Adjustment Degrees - 5
Rotor Type - HYG-DCU1
Initialize AP1
Turn Rotor  #;AM1;
Stop Rotor  AS;
Byte,Integer,Character selected to Character
Use leading zeros in degrees is checked
Use delay is not checked
Baud rate 4800
Parity None
Word length 8
Stop Bits 1

I can't think of anything else to tell you to try. Can you confirm the
serial port is Ok through some other device and at 4800 baud? Can you test
the rotor interface on another PC with Dxbase?

Good luck,

Subject: RE: DCU1 - DXbase - WIN7 - Serial>USB

Hi Dale,

It is WIN7/64 and I am using a Prolific serial to USB adapter on COM 3 for
rotor control. I am using the same adapter for K3 & 1K-FA control from
DXbase on COM 4. I have used the settings that Rotor-EZ says to use and the
default settings in DXbase and neither work for me.

I am stuck.......

Thanks 73 de,

Hi Bob,

I am running DXbase 2007 on Windows 7/64 controlling a Yaesu G-2800DXA with
an Idiom Press interface that uses the DCU1 format.

My used to serial adapter is a Digi Edgeport 8 that I got on ebay for cheap.

When I installed the Digi Edgport Windows 7 Went and fetched the proper
driver from the internet and it installed FB.

Had no trouble getting Dxbase to control the rotor. I'm using the same
settings as W2IRT on COM 6.

You don't mention if your Win7 is 32 or 64 bit. The USB/serial adapters
written for 32 op system will not function with Win 7 64 bit so that could
be the trouble.

Also you don't mention if you have used this USB to serial adapter with this

PC/ DXbase to control anything else with success. If you haven't tried that
it may help you isolate your source of trouble.

I am having some monir trouble with Win & and DXbase with some parameters
that normally get saved to the ini file that I either can't change or if I
change them the aren't saved when I exit and restart DxBase. Running DxBase

as Administrator doesn't solve them problem. I'm really looking forward to
the new version hoping it will be fully compliant. Neal has promised a fully

compliant progrma so I'm willing to wait as I'm sure it's a lot of hard
work.

Let us know how you progress.

Dale,
AA1QD
