After successfully uninstalling DXBase2007 from c:\Program Files and reinstalling into c:\Amateur Radio on my Vista laptop I felt sufficiently brave to help a friend do the same thing on his Vista ham computer.
As I should have known it would be harder than I expected, however I finally did get it running, although not completely. When doing the install I substituted "Amateur Radio" for "Program Files" when the installer asked for the destination. All seemed ok, but when doing the configuration I find that for Tools>Options>User Options>Radio 1 I get the error message "C:\Program Files\Scientific Solutions\DXbase 2007\Radios.ini" was not found. Of course there is no such folder. I can find no way to cause the program to look instead in c:\Amateur Radio\Scientific...... I did change the notification on startup to c:\amateur radio\scientific... and it finding 'CALL.mdb' and refdata.mdb properly. Also for tabs TNC and Internet I get a message box with text "System Cannot find the file specified...." However in these cases you can dismiss the error box and at least in the case of the Internet tab it works. I don't have a TNC in use so I can't say if it would work after dismissing the error box. I have not tried other functions such as labels, so I can't say how they may work. So there seems to be somewhere c:\program files\scientific.. fixed somewhere in the install. I didn't feel like going into the registry...maybe there are some left overs in there.
