a few weeks ago, I startet something similar, but I had no time, so 
it's still not much more than a concept:

I thought about a bunch of cgi-scrips for testing and reporting, I 
would write the scripts in perl 

tests based on the examples, with a simple question like "can you see a 
red box moving slowly across the window?" - so that even 
non-programmers can perform it (to get it tested with as many browsers 
as possible)

tests dependencies (it makes not much sense to test any advanced 
features, if creating a layer fails)

catch javascript-errors while performing the test

reports to compare diffrent browsers, diffrent browser-versions, the 
same browser on diffrent OS (Versions), diffrent dynapi snapshots


I hope you have an idea what I was thinking about
