Hi All,

What I find usually skewed about statistics like these is that they
never really tell you where these numbers come from. Their website says
"The data published by WebSnapshot is compiled from millions of visitors
to tens of thousands of web sites of all types and sizes. These sites
use the SuperStats tracking system, the web's most sophisticated online
site tracker, and part of the MyComputer.com Network.". Now this means
that only people using this SuperStats tracking system are measured by
WebSnapshot. Looking at the SuperStats tracking info it works like this
"You simply paste a section of HTML code into each page you wish to
track; after that, your statistics will be instantly updated every time
your page is loaded. " Meaning that you have to actively take part in
which pages are tracked. This could seriously skew results.

Secondly their SuperStats tracking is NOT free! So you have to pay for
this service of getting statistics. Meaning that the amount of people
using this system (If indeed IS tens of thousands) are paying through
the nose to get this info. It cant really be all too accurate seeing as
it dosent include oh the millions of people who cant afford to pay for
this service or rather do it themselves, seriously skewing the stats
even more.

Im not trying to attack the method or the accuracy of these stats. I
just think that for a successful user experience an admin should do
his/her own stat gathering and polls accordingly to know where to focus
his/her energies in development. If youve got a 98% Mac community
accessing your site then its dosent make too much sense to spend a month
re-tuning your site for MS Users (Unless your a perfectionist :) ).

But, thats the whole idea behind the DynAPI isnt it? Code once for all
browsers and all platforms. Mmmm, Scriptalicious.

Anyway, I just like project so DAMN MUCH! It saves me loads of time and
headaches.
