The setStatus is used so that I can redirect the status messages if I want. You will see that as the page loads, my statusbar appears at the bottom.  The use of an interim method rather directly means that I can make the status message appear anywhere that I want.  It is possible to even log these if I wanted to for debugging purposes. I'll try work out why IE5.5 is playing up.  Thanx for the feedback. There are also a great deal of other bug fixed ans changes.  They are all document in the CHANGES.TXT file contained in the download. I am sorry that I am not able to offer the download in a good old zip file, but f2s have decided in their almighty wisdom to block all .zip files. I have also read that Netscape have started beta testing (previewing) the latest version 6.1 and it is based on Mozilla 0.91.  This should mean that I the user upgrades their version of NS6, it will be fully supported by the afroapi.
