Just uploaded part 2 of the tutorial. Already have finished the first 5
parts,
and the game is currently looking very good (and smooth on both IE5+ and
Mozilla) with bullets and monsters flying around (currently using about 15
layers)
This 2nd part adds a player object to the scenery, and adds movement
for the player...read all about it at http://www.dynamic-core.net/articles
:)
Also tried the thread-timer thingie discussed here.. but although the game
will run faster (twice as fast to be exact ;) It doesn't make it smoother or
better to look at.. Maybe I'll try a few other things before I start my next
project but I think 2timers won't work good for gaming environments (unless
you need that extra bit of speed at some point and don't mind the
non-smoothness
of it..)
or you use the second timer for status-updating which can run at a slower
pace...still wondering about the use of it :)
