You know that is pretty inconsequential. There are only ~ 10,000
egold spends per day. You could generate 100,000 so-called "turing
test" jpgs in a few minutes of computer time one night in a batch.

e-gold should immediately add one on the log-in page. There is no downside.

For whatever reason they have it on the account-create page, they
shoudl have it on the log-in page. It is on the account-create page
to save problem FOR E-GOLD, it should be on the log-in page to save
problems for e-gold users.

However...

You're completely right, I forgot about automatic (OMI) spends!

Could be the robot-hacker is using the OMI interface (e-gold will
never tell us of course).

Obviously there's no logical solution to that.

I suggest a simple 99% solution: if a given e-gold account wishes to
use the OMI for spends, the owner must supply an IP number (you'd set
it in your personal information) and only requests from that IP will
be entertained. Problem solved.

Indeed. e-gold should take 30 seconds to block the offending IP.
(Perhaps they've done this already.)

>Good passphrase is secure thing

Quite right.

Unfortunately, sadly, the business of running a DGC is about "saving
users from themselves"

"Most of the world's great religions are hijacked from time to time by
men who use the religious faith of others to manipulate them for self-
serving purposes. Environmentalism is different however. It is not a
religion that happens to be manipulated from time to time for political
purpose--for the power and money it can bring to its controllers.
Environmentalism is a religion which has been deliberately created, for
the sole purpose of manipulating its followers." Arthur B. Robinson, 2001.
