Physical location of the servers is essentially meaningless to Echelon monitoring. Echelon is no longer just the fancies of the paranoid any more of course, but noone ever said exactly what echelon is capable of. I personally don't think it has the ability to break through SSL encryption in real time, though even that is hard telling. I would certainly not assume that simply because neither server or client are in the US that the link is not succeptable to echelon monitoring. After all, Australia implicated *both* the US and the UK when it announced, much to the chagrin of the US and the UK, that it had this Echelon monitoring system and was cooperating with the US and UK on global monitoring. Give up on privacy and annonymity? Certainly not. There are ways to keep things out of big brothers ever watching eyes, but geographic location really doesn't play a part. Now, there is one important factor for physical server location and that is protection from seizure and legal protection. Don't expect physical location to stop big brother monitoring though. -- Matthew Schlegel Founder Gold Builders International http://www.goldbuilders.com http://www.385355.clicktwocents.com http://two-cents-worth.com/?goldbuilders --- You are currently subscribed to e-gold-list as: [email protected] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] Use e-gold's Secure Randomized Keyboard (SRK) when accessing your e-gold account(s) via the web and shopping cart interfaces to help thwart keystroke loggers and common viruses.
