Hi Graham, I am very glad to hear of your positive discussions with the Lateko rep and I hope your great debit card deal keeps on going for ever!!! Lateko is a good bank. And we are offering their cards too in case you hadn't noticed :)
However, whatever the rep says is one thing... sometimes bank management think differently when confronted with international pressure. I have seen this exact situation before with another bank in another country. I did not intend to suggest that other Latvian banks were immediately affected, and but now I see my posting could have been misunderstood to imply that. What I will say is that I would give Lateko cards maybe 6 months, maybe a year. Then they will follow Parex. That's just my personal opinion but I would be prepared to bet good money on it. I'm not a doom and gloom person, but I am realistic. The writing is on the wall.
