I have no idea what you wrote there - it is true that it is illegal for South Africans to hold raw gold - South Africans are only allowed to hold gold in the form of coins, jewelry or in an investment portfolio held off shore. The main restriction is because of the foreign exchange control act. You can read more on the subject at various places here are some links.
