James wrote "Oh yes it does. e-gold has/had/will-have 0 (no, zero) bank accounts. A plastic card relies on banks"
An E-gold debit card, as I see it, doesn't implicate any bank. The card simply contains digital information about how to access an E-gold account. So, the card doesn't actually contain the amount of egold, but simple access information: user name and password; it's like a door key. As I said, each E-gold account must have a special "use" attribute because nobody must be able to transfer / steal money from a card to an another account, unless that account belongs to a business that accepts debit cards; the "real life" accounts have balance limitations. So, a transaction is simply the transfer of information from one e-gold account to another, without human intervention. This means that there must be an accredited (by E-gold) hardware device which may perform the transfer online (with SSL and all), using tight E-gold system integration. "They spend gold once they get it!! They merely choose not to spend any of it TO YOU" If they spend the egold within the system (not out-exchange it), it's okay because that egold continues to circulate *within* the system. "I don't think either one would be effective advertising for a new currency" Sorry about the direct... approach, I was not thinking that E-gold should advertise with these services when I said "what would you choose", but thinking to what would choose a business, *any* business in the world. I for one would choose Postmaster from the two choices. I agree that there is no use in email or AdWords advertising for E-gold, just word of mouth and merchants that accept egold. As for professionalism, I guess we can't agree, but think at this: Postmaster has a 6 Google rank and there are very few sites of that stature around (I am not referring to the Google rank); Postmaster has milions of opt-in users and some very important clients (like "CD-Rom Guide, CNET, EarthWeb, FreeTechMail, Internet.com, intranets.com, MSNBC.com, NewMedia, Techies.com, TechRepublic, TechTarget, ZDNet"). Nobody can use Postmaster to spam because Postmaster sends the emails only to the users who have previously accepted to receive it. The sites that offer "get paid to read" usually have 0 rank and there are lots of them around, with many people registring only to get a few cents per email, not because they are really intereseted in the content. I trust more someone who reads an email without being paid to do that. Sidd, of course, you are right that the "spot" depends of whom you're asking. I was thinking the "spot" is what Oanda says: the value taken directly from the computer network of the banks that are involved in establishing the forex rates, the "Interbank Forex Market" (http://fxtrade.oanda.com/about/about_fxtrade.shtml - "100% automated - from market-making through trade execution"). The E-gold spot is in the middle of what the others say.
