Not everything in the hardware is enabled in the software. We do not appear to be using the register you mention.

But the only timer-related register which is mapped to a VF I could find is the free-running timer (VTFRTIMER at 0x1048). So I'm kind of confused. P.S. yes I know that there is ptp_kvm module, but it uses hypercalls which I'd like to avoid.
