Hi!

While looking for PTP enabled Intel NICs, I came across the datasheets
for 82574L and 82599V. Both NICs claim to support 802.1as (PTP),
however, the Linux driver doesn't provide this feature.

OTOH, the igb driver has PTP support.

I now have two questions:

1.) Do you agree that it's feasible to implement PTP on at least some
of the e1000e based NICs like 82599 and 82574?

2.) If so, is the igb PTP code a suitable starting point or are there
limitations/assumptions that prevent this code from being used in
       e1000e?

I also read about some people working on clock driver code that's soon
to be pushed upstream. I guess this means it can be used in conjunction
with the PTP hardware clocks framework added earlier this year?

TIA
